Alexander von Humboldt (1769.1859).

Alexander Von Humboldt has been one of the most important naturalist that have passed through the Island of Tenerife. He´s originally german and recieved his education in Tegel, Berlin, and Frankfort and also lived some of his formative years in countries like Holand or England.
His liberal ideology was strongly marked by years of agitation in France and the French Revolution.
His love for his surroundings as well as his anxiousness to get to know new places made him travel to Central America as well as South America, where he visited other places such as the Andes, United States...and back to Europe mostly France.
In 1804 he established himself in Paris where he presented his first work of art called "Viaje a las regiones equinocciales del Nuevo Continente", fruit of many years of travelling around the new world.
Von Humboldt climbed El Teide, in which he highlighted it´s beauty.
